World Health Day

It is celebrated annually and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. The theme for 2022 is “World Health Day 2022 – Our planet, our health”

History of World Health Day

World Health DayThe World Health Organisation (WHO) organised the first World Health Assembly which called for a “World Health Day” in 1948. The first World Health Day was observed on April 7, 1950 and since then, it is celebrated every year on the same day.

However, this theme of Our Planet, Our Health should be a powerful reminder to us that the resolution of many of  issues like Air pollution, contaminated water, inadequate sanitation including solid waste management, risks related to certain hazardous chemicals, and negative impacts of climate change are beyond the exclusive purview of the health sector and, as a consequence, an effective response will demand whole- of- government and whole- of- society approaches.

So today 7th April is call to Join  the World Health Organization commemoration on World Health Day on theme Our planet, our health”
